Making a Non-Newtonian Fluid!
Materials
-
1/2 Cup of Water
-
1 Cup of Dry Corn Starch
-
Food Colouring (optional)
-
Mixing Bowl
Procedure
-
Put the Corn Starch into the bowl.
-
If you’d like to, add food colouring of your choice to make the Ooze Unique. Two or three drops will be enough. Mix this in.
-
Add water slowly, a little at a time, and mix together with your fingers as you go.
-
When you’ve found the right ratio between the ingredients, the ooze should act like a liquid when you slowly stir it but a solid if you hit it with your finger or a spoon.
-
You might need to add more corn starch if it’s splashy when you hit it or more water if it becomes dry. Keep balancing until it’s just right.
-
When you’re disposing of the ooze, don’t put it down the sink, this will damage your pipes! Put it in a bag, tie it, and put it in your regular garbage.
