• Skittles

• Plate (a white plate works best)

• Water

1. Arrange Skittles on your plate in a wide circle. Try to fit as many as you can and alternate colours for a better rainbow effect.
    

2. Pour a small amount of water onto the middle of the plate; enough to reach the Skittles but not cover them.
    

3. Observe the colouring being extracted and diffuse towards the middle of the plate.
    

4. Try it again with other candies (not all will work) or arrangements to see the effect.

This experiment is great for beginners and can be done with household ingredients.
